Concept
Merging the ancient tradition of mandala sand-painting techniques with expressions of data collected during a 3 month journey on foot along the north coast and mountains of Spain
The title is reference to the distance traveled and the weight of the sculture's material. The installation/performance was set in a 15th century monestary located in Belalcazar, Andalusia - region of southern Spain
Process
Using hand made tools and hand dyed powdered marble, the creation of the mandala took 3 weeks of 10 - 12 hr days. The imagery was created with information pulled from data trackers over the cource of 3 months
The work was meant to express the impermanence of memory, time and experiece. That everything has a cycle and even when they end they remain, however transformed.
